It was my good friend’s birthday the other day. We got to talking about the perception of getting older and what that means for how people view you. We must have spent half-an-hour trying to distinguish the line when it the “oh, they’re just young” excuse stops applying. And in the end, we decided defining it was just plain stupid.
If you want to link your life to a ticking clock, by all means, be my guest. But I’m more of the perception that I’ll just build the damn thing and tell it what time to read.
I know 16 year olds that outperform those twice their age. I know 50 year olds who would rather sit tight lest they disturb their routine, yet their neighbor, at 74, is riding from Alaska to Patagonia on a motorcycle. Those who are asking themselves what makes them happy are the ones seeking the most out of their time.
A second is a second. It is what you make it.
Decide how you want to use yours.
