Aspen and aprés are essentially interchangable. If you're looking for a great apres bar, a big party, tasty restaurant, bottomless happy hours or really any other ingredient thereof, Aspen has it. It constantly tops the list of best places to apres in the US and from our experience, we're hapy to vouch for it as well. Every winter, Freeskier Magazine hosts their annual Ski Test and the stories that flow are rarely about the skiing. That's not to say Ajax (one of four mountains in "aspen", and the one closes to the real town that bears the namesake) is a dousey — quite the contrary in fact — it's just that the apres scene is that good.
Best Cocktails: The Hooch
Cosy, unpretentious 'speak easy' vibes with top-notch cocktails
An unpresumptuous 'speak easy', The Hooch is a quick walk from thebase of Ajax. Pull up to the granate countertop bar or cosy into one of the many plush chairs and couches sprinkled throght and grab one of their famous Hot Toddy's. Great vibes and quite enough to carry on a conversation.

Slope-side Aprés: Ajax Tavern
Slope-side aprés at it's finest
I wouldn't pass up a sunny afternoon at the Ajax Tavern for the world. Right at the bottom of the Ajax Gondola, you'll be hard pressed to miss it — and you'd be foolish to deny their famous truffle fries or waygu chile. The Tavern really is the melting pot for locals, tourists and all those 'pros' you follow on instagram. And somehow, Champaign also always seems to be on tap...

High-Class: Element 47
Swanky wine bar with the largest selection in Aspen (which is saying alot)
Nestled at the base of the Ajax in the same building as the Little Nell, the abiance in Element 47 is refined. Not many locals frequent this spot, but you're almost guaranteed to rub shoulders with the who's-who of industry titans. More retaurant than a bar — and we're ok with that.

Local Vibe: The Onion
Perhaps the only truly 'local' place in Aspen
Aspens small footprint has made it tough for any establishemnt to stay local — The Onion, however, is perhaps the only acception. A 3-minute walk from the Ajax base (5 if you're in ski boots) serves up a classc pub fair, with and old-as-bones brick decore complete with bullet holes and the occational live music escapade. Perfect if you're looking for a more easygoing crowd — just be carful when someone starts dancing on the bar...

Best Summertime: Aspen Brewing Company

Great food selecetion to compliment the local craft brews. Rotating selection of beers on tap, though you can't buy caes to-go. Great spot to get away from the main crows.

Aprés-All-Day: Coud 9
If you don't know, now you know...
There's really no other way of putting this: Cloud 9 does everything it can so you leave the establishment on....well... cloud 9. Guaranteed to have a good time, make lots of new friends, and seriously challenge your ability to ski back to the base while inebriated. Almost impossible to get into - good luck!
