To preface, I love Okemo. I grew up a weekend warrior, traveling up from Boston to Ludlow until my family moved to Vermont so I could pursue skiing full time. Ludlow holds a place close to my heart, as do the many bars and restaurants in the area.

Best of the Best: Tom’s Loft Tavern

Best beer, best crowd, best vibe – a true winner

The Loft is the best. Everything about the place screams “après ski.” The gritty ski mountain ambiance, the Vermont beers on tap, and, most of all, the packed-to-the-brim crowd rockin’ ski boots at the bar. The bar generally fills up fast, so seats are at a premium. I would recommend cutting your ski day short to 3 pm at the latest in order to secure a spot on weekends. They have great appetizers and other food to fuel up after a long day on the hill.

Local's Tip: The Loft has my favorite wings in the world. I’m not kidding. Order the “Everything Wings” – you won’t be disappointed.

Best Cocktails: Main + Mountain

Top-notch cocktails + an outdoor firepit = cozy mountain vibes

Recognized as one of the best cocktail bars in Vermont, Main + Mountain is my favorite bar in Ludlow once I’m off the hill. The bartenders are amazing and always incredibly friendly. Once you’ve grabbed a creative cocktail and enjoyed the friendly vibe inside, meander outside to enjoy the fire.

Local's Tip: Get the “Good ‘ol Boy”. This is their most popular cocktail for good reason. If you enjoy whiskey drinks, this is one of best you’ll ever have.

Best Food: Homestyle Hostel

Rustic meets chic at this farm-to-table restaurant and bar

I know what you’re thinking: a hostel? Why would I go there for drinks and food? This place isn’t your average hostel. The entire bottom floor of the building is an amazing far-to-table restaurant with a great bar, making it one of the best restaurant options in Ludlow. I always recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious post-skiing meal.

Equal parts elevated and cozy

 If you’re looking for a rustic and cozy atmosphere with great wine and incredible food, then Stemwinder is your place. Stemwinder is located in the same building as the Wine & Cheese Depot, making for a dynamic duo. Sample different small plates all while enjoying a diverse selection of wine, craft beer, and cocktails. Bonus points for the super friendly staff.
