Best Après Ski Bars at Okemo, Vermont

Posted by Evan Williams on

To preface, I love Okemo. I grew up a weekend warrior all my childhood traveling up from Boston until my family moved there full time when I was in high school so I could pursue skiing. Ludlow holds a place close to my heart, so do the many bars and restaurants in the area.

Tom’s Loft Tavern
Our Pick - Best Après Bar

The loft is the best. Everything about the place screams “Après Ski.” The gritty ski mountain ambiance, the Vermont beers on tap, and most of all the packed to the brim crowd still in ski boots after skiing. The bar generally fills up fast so seats are at a premium, I would recommend cutting your ski day short by at least 3pm to be able to secure a spot on weekends. They have great appetizers and other food to fuel up after a long day on the hill.

Locals Tip: The Loft has my favorite wings in the world. I’m not kidding. Order the “Everything Wings,” you will not be disappointed.

Main + Mountain
Best Cocktails

Recognized as one of the best cocktail bars in Vermont. Main + Mountain is my favorite bar in Ludlow once I’m off the hill. The bartenders are amazing and always incredibly friendly. The cocktail menu is super creative. Always a great vibe at Main + Mountain. Oh and there’s a fire pit outside, who doesn’t like drinking amazing cocktails while standing around a fire in the winter?

Locals Tip: Get the “Good ‘ol Boy”. This is their most popular cocktail for good reason. If you enjoy whiskey drinks, this is one of best you’ll ever have.

Homestyle Hostel
Après for the après?

A hostel? I know what you’re thinking, why would I go there for drinks and food? This place isn’t your average hostel. The entire bottom floor of the building is an amazing farm to table restaurant with an amazing bar. One of the best restaurant options in Ludlow. I constantly recommend this place to anyone looking for a delicious meal on a weekend after skiing.

More wine please.

If you’re looking for a rustic but cozy atmosphere, great wine and incredible food then Stemwinder is the place.  It’s located in the same building as the Wine & Cheese Depot, making this a great combination –– Great wine, great food.  Sample different small plates all while enjoying a diverse selection of wine, craft beer and cocktails.   I especially like the friendly staff, the cozy vibe.
