Peak 98 vs. Renoun Endurance 98 Review
Peak 98 vs. Renoun Endurance 98 Review
Peak Skis, Bode Miler’s 3rd try at starting a ski company, came hot out of the gate with major private equity funding 2 years ago with a lineup that looks eerily similar to another brand’s: Renoun. But how does the Peak 98 (basically a re-skinned Elan ski) stack up against the Endurance 98 with it’s novel VibeStop™ Technology inside? Well, we tried both.
Stability:
Known for its remarkable stability, the Endurance excels in providing a smooth and controlled ride. Renoun's innovative VibeStop™ Technology using non-Newtonian polymers adjusts to skiing conditions, offering a dampened feel that enhances stability, especially at higher speeds or on variable terrain. The Peak 98 offers good stability and perferns to be more planted on the snow.
Playfulness:
The Peak 98 is designed with a full sheet of metal with a hole cut in the middle of it, a somewhat confusing play coming from a company withit’sroots in racing background. Conversly, the Renoun Endurance 98 opts for a single tip-to-tail band of titanal metal that allows the full wood core to have more pop and energy for a more lively feel than the Peak.
Edge-to-edge:
With identical waist-widths, both skis are very quick edge to edge, even though the Peak is slightly heavier.
Versatility:
Renoun skis are known for their versatility, and the Endurance 98 certainly doesn’t disappoint. They perform admirably across various conditions, from hardpack to mixed terrain, showcasing adaptability and stability. The 98 by Peak also versatile but caters towards a traditional skiing style.
Powder:
If you’re going to Japan, then neither ski will fit the bill, but for most every-day skiing, both of these skis will float well. Straight by the numbers though, the Peak 98 has slightly less surface area to keep you afloat.
Wheather you’re trying to ski like Bode or just have a good time, both are great skis. The real question is how importantly a lively and poppy ski is: The Peak 98 likes being more grounded while the Endurnace 98 is more energetic and lively.
